Just soft-launching a little project that I’m still working on.
Scan Factory is something I’ll be running very soon – I just need to finish off a few things. As you can see it’s a photo scanning service, initially for photo prints but there’s plans for slides and negatives too in the not too distant future. I’m putting together a page on how photo scanning works so hopefully you get the idea.
The site is using https throughout and for this I’m trialling Let’s Encrypt, which is (currently) free and is pretty easy to set up. The site is my first attempt at a combination of wordpress and woocommerce and in this instance I’m going with Stripe as the payment gateway. From an implementation point of view Stripe has been really easy – way easier than using the PayPal gateway. We’ll have to see how it performs in practice.
It’s been a good opportunity to use woocommerce – something I’ve been wanting to look at for some time now. I’m quite impressed with the ease of setup and for straightforward ecommerce sites its functionality should suffice. There’s a lot of premium add-ons to enhance functionality too.
